They have good to very good light and weather fastness, and when compared to other chemistries are relatively lower in cost. The pigments demonstrate good rheological properties but fastness to overpainting and all nonaliphatic solvents is poor. In addition, they bloom heavily in baking systems and have relatively poor heat stability. To note is that they often exhibit poor crystal stability in the presence of non-aliphatic organic solvents, indicated by a distinct red shade shift, loss of brightness and strength reduction. This phenomenon is often accelerated by elevated (above 40°C/104°F) processing temperatures due to aggressive milling (exception: Hansa Brilliant Yellow 2GX 70-S).
